Quick tip – speed up your computer’s bootup time and performance 2

This tip is tried and tested on Windows XP. Basically we’ll be removing all the startup programs that are not needed.

1. START -> Run -> “msconfig”

Run -> MSCONFIG

2. Go to the “Startup” tab

MSCONFIG -> Startup tab

3. For all the programs with small ticks on the left (meaning they are loaded each time your PC boots up) do a quick search (tempted to say google-search) for the program name, find out information about the process, and un-tick the program if you think it is not needed (for example, Yahoo messenger need not load up each time you boot up your PC).

4. Done !! restart and enjoy a faster PC :-)

A cover to sum it all up – Pink Floyd 3

Pink Floyd – the psychedelic rock band, which excels not only in its music, but also in the design of its album covers. You have to observe them carefully to be able to appreciate the intricate job that is done on each one of them. Per me, creating a cover for anything (a book, an album) is and extremely difficult task, first you have to understand the entire feeling that the work is supposed to represent, then you have to summarize it in a single photo, montage or a design. And as if Pink Floyd’s music were not un-describable enough, most of their album cover designs do succeed in capturing the essence of their music!

These are the covers that have inspired generations of people, tshirt designs, and have have left a dent in the pop-culture as we know it. Here is a collage that I created some time ago using multiple Pink Floyd album covers. Finding the covers was the difficult part, as the final collage was created in a jiffy using Picasa.

Some of the more famous covers in the above collage:
Dark side of the moon, Ummagumma, Obscured by clouds and The Wall.

Let me know if you face trouble appreciating what I just appreciated ;-) will try my best to help you out.

“Sarkar Raj” Vs “C.R.A.Z.Y.” 1

I watched two movies this weekend, much hyped Ram Gopal Verma’s – Sarkar Raj and a french flick C.R.A.Z.Y.

C.R.A.Z.Y. - Zac

Mini review: You can’t compare shit with apples/oranges. C.R.A.Z.Y. wins hands down in all the departments, be it story development, background score, performances, cinematography.. just name it! I can not cease to wonder why RGV is touted as being amongst india’s finest directors when he makes such kind of bull.. Ofcourse, we do have good directors and exceptional movies too, but as it turns out, most of the movies nowadays depend more on packaging rather than on content, TASHAN for example. Its about time that Indian cinema comes off age.

First look – Monsoon clouds 0

Jun 2008 - Monsoon clouds in Indore

Around 6pm
Indore (India)

Monsoon Megha (hindi for clouds)! :-) I simply found it irresistible to not take a few pics of the wonderful first batch of monsoon clouds hovering over Indore. They brought in a few drizzles, cooled the weather a lot, and must have led many young and foolish people to propose to their loved ones! Colours did not come out as well as I would have wanted them to, but the rays still got captured. The beauty of clouds, the interplay of sunlight and the different colours it leads to, never ceases to amaze me. Its an awesome, breathtaking view, open for everyone to witness, just like the daily spectacle of the sky changing its colours early in the morning, right before sunrise.
