The CSE Cult of NITB! 1

NIT Bhopal - CS 2006 - tshirt - Front Design

During the summer of ’06, our last semester at NIT, Bhopal, two lazy-creative souls came out of their shells. On a creative-high, they ended up creating the above tshirt design for the 2002-06 batch of Computer Science of Maulana Azad National Institute of Technology, Bhopal (aka NITB, MANIT, MACT). This became a hugely popular concept and its now a trend, and you can catch most of the final year students donning their batch tees during the last few weeks of the golden-years.

And for those who can’t decipher what’s written -

  • Line 1 – “Computer Science & Engineering rules at NIT, Bhopal”
    • Yes, we had our spies and bullies all over the place ;)
  • Line 2 – “Computer is the religion..”
    • scary.. eh? We even got a few unsuspecting professors converted!
  • Line 3 – “You can not Escape! You can not Undo! You can not Exit!”
    • muhahahahahaha… mujajajaja.. out with the truth…. suckers!
  • Line 4 – “You have to E N T E R”
    • See the geeky “Enter” sign in the design, wow, the height of sneaky subliminal advertising!

I still have got mine, errr, somewhere ;-)

Sittin’ on the dock of the bay, watchin’ the tide roll away… 0

Lyrics of the song “Dock of the Bay” by Pearl Jam (originally by “Otis Redding”, but I never heard the original version). Suits me well, especially when am headed for ‘Frisco myself.. and the time just seems to be passing me by. I wish I could somehow stop time and remain in this state of eternal bliss. This song makes me strangely nostalgic, sentimental and romantic… strangely.

Sittin’ in the mornin’ sun, I’ll be sittin’ till the evening’s done
Watchin’ the ships roll in, then I watch ‘em roll away again
Sittin’ on the dock of the bay, watchin’ the tide roll away
Sittin’ on the dock of the bay wastin’ time…

I left my home in Georgia, headed for the ‘Frisco Bay
I’ve got nothin’ to live for, looks like nothing’s gonna come my way, yeah…
Sittin’ on the dock of the bay, watchin’ the tide roll away
Sittin on the dock of the bay wastin’ time…

Looks like nothing’s ever gonna change, everything still remains the same
I can’t do what ten people want me to, so I guess I’ll remain the same
Oh, sittin’ on a roll in my bones, this loneliness won’t leave me alone
Two thousand miles I’ve roamed, just to make this dock my home, yeah…
I’m sittin’ on the dock of the bay, watchin’ the tide roll away
Sittin on the dock of the bay wastin’ time…

I left my home in Georgia, headed for the ‘Frisco Bay
Sittin’ here restin’ my bones, this loneliness won’t leave me alone, yeah…
Two thousand miles I’ve roamed, just to make this dock my home, yeah…
Sittin’ on the dock of the bay, watchin’ the tide roll away
Sittin on the dock of the bay wastin’ time…

Majboor Jindagiyan 1

psst, that’s my baby, Majbur Zindagiyan!

Off the record:
It took total 2 days to make, including conceptualization, interviewing some poor souls and the post-production. I remember my friends dozing off and me working on editing, through the night, ofcourse, hurling curses at them at every possible instance. Creating this movie has been one of the best experiences of my life, and winning that prize, one of the fondest memory of achievement. I miss you guys, my loved majboor fukeers.

Officially:
A documentary about the children and elderly of the city Bhopal (capital of Madhya Pradesh, India) who are forced into a life of misery and hardships because of their poverty.
Stood first in a national level movie-making competition held at NIT, Bhopal (Maulana Azad National Institute of Technology aka MANIT and MACT) in ’06.

He’s got a what !!?? 1

Rakhi Sawant - Does she have one ? I wonder.. >> Aamir Khan’s got one.
>> Amitabh Bacchan’s got one, which ain’t working right now, strangely.
>> Karan Johar’s got one, I would have doubted it, if hadn’t seen it myself.
>> And you couldn’t have guessed it. Even Pooja Bedi has one.
>> I tried to find if Rakhi Sawant had one of her own, but couldn’t find any! {amazed!}

Well the way Indian celebrities are jumping on the blogging bandwagon, am pretty sure that soon, even Rakhi will get one of her own soon.. a blog.

I was delighted in a queer way when I recently found, and read, Abhinav Bindra’s Road to Beijing – his very own blog! It is not a celebrity blog, it is not created for publicity at all. He writes his heart out, like in his post about the day-after, for example. Strangely, I was not even searching for his blog when I stumbled on its link, on Google’s Blogs of Note list.

Explore -

PS: Had read that Shahrukh, Salman and Ajay Devgan also have their blogs, but couldn’t find ‘em. Will update the above list of Indian Celebrity Blog sites when I do.
