A cover to sum it all up – Pink Floyd

Pink Floyd – the psychedelic rock band, which excels not only in its music, but also in the design of its album covers. You have to observe them carefully to be able to appreciate the intricate job that is done on each one of them. Per me, creating a cover for anything (a book, an album) is and extremely difficult task, first you have to understand the entire feeling that the work is supposed to represent, then you have to summarize it in a single photo, montage or a design. And as if Pink Floyd’s music were not un-describable enough, most of their album cover designs do succeed in capturing the essence of their music!

These are the covers that have inspired generations of people, tshirt designs, and have have left a dent in the pop-culture as we know it. Here is a collage that I created some time ago using multiple Pink Floyd album covers. Finding the covers was the difficult part, as the final collage was created in a jiffy using Picasa.

Pink Floyd - Album art Collage

Some of the more famous covers in the above collage:
Dark side of the moon, Ummagumma, Obscured by clouds and The Wall.

Let me know if you face trouble appreciating what I just appreciated ;-) will try my best to help you out.

Hi. I really DO appreciate your love for Pink Floyd. They are by far my favorite band. However, I just wanted to bring to your attention that Obscured by Clouds is indeed NOT represented in your album cover collage. I noticed you have a few repeated, like The Wall, Is There Anybody Out There and Ummagumma twice. How about A Nice Pair or Shine On, the box set? No Division Bell, either! But, I see you have MORE, my absolute favorite PF album, and I don’t really know why. Just a bit of tenderly experimental and imaginative psychedelia is all.

    Thanks for the PF art.
